Roads Department - With winter here the Road Department would like Township Residents to be aware of the following:

Avoid plowing Ice and Snow onto the roads; Ornamental structures such as flowerbeds, bridges, mailboxes, lawn decorations must be located outside the Township right-of-way which is 16.5 feet from the center of the road. This will eliminate any safety issues to motorists, blockage of roadside swales and damage to your handy work.

Mail Boxes - 99% of all mail boxes are in the township right of way. Municipalities are very tolerant as mailboxes have to be accessible for mail delivery. However, when they are installed in the right of way the resident has to assume that there is a risk the mail box could be damaged during snow removable. Nockamixon Township does NOT PAY FOR DAMAGED MAILBOXES.

A TREE DOWN! When a tree is obstructing a township road please contact the Road Dept. If it is a State Road please contact Penndot. Please call only if the tree or limb is obstructing the road. Trees on private property cannot be removed by the Road Department.

Please report any missing or damaged signs along Township roads. Potholes are an ongoing problem and they will be appearing soon, please report them to the road department.
When driving through a work zone please make sure the machine operator and/or the men working on the ground see you, proceed with caution at a reduced rate of speed (15 mph) to avoid any accidents that could cause personal injuries or damage to vehicles or property.
