Nockamixon Township Board of Supervisors Work Session Meeting – April 23, 2009
The work session meeting for Nockamixon Township Board of Supervisors was opened at 7:30 P.M. on Thursday, April 23, 2009 by Chairperson Nancy Janyszeski. In attendance were Supervisors Henry Gawronski, Jim Litzenberger and Albert Santopietro. Also in attendance was Keith DeLuca, Township Treasurer. Vice Chairperson Keyser arrived later.
After the Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Janyszeski, she reminds everyone that the March work session was canceled. Chairperson Janyszeski requests that the Treasurer review past bills to determine if Open Space billings were actually billed to the General Fund over the last 2 years. Supervisor Gawronski volunteers to assist the Treasurer to determine what amount should be reimbursed to the General Fund. There is a motion by Supervisor Santopietro and seconded by Supervisor Gawronski to transfer up to $7500.00 from the Open Space Fund to the General Fund. The motion carried 4-0-0.
Chairperson Janyszeski relays the Open Space Committee’s request to meet with the Board of Supervisors at a Work Session.
Chairperson Janyszeski reminds the Board that Secretaries Day is approaching. Supervisor Litzenberger makes a motion to purchase flowers for the Township Secretary, seconded by Supervisor Santopietro. The motion carried 4-0-0.
Supervisor Keyser arrives.
Discussion begins on Clean-Up Day, is the Township ready? Supervisor Litzenberger asks the Treasurer to confirm that the dumpsters will be at the Township building by Friday at 2PM. There is also conversation on internet service in the Township, if anyone has any knowledge on DSL or cable and what the status is.
The Treasurer steers the Board to begin working on the budget amendment. The board directs the Treasurer to phone Mary Ann Donahue to get information on LST taxes. They also instruct him to project current expenses to the end of the year. In looking at the current budget will the Township have to increase taxes to cover it? Chairperson Janyszeski asks the Treasurer if one of the local Fire Companies can perform future fire inspections on the Township building. Finally the board inquires if there is a maintenance fee for the Heritage Conservancy on the Kerl Property and who is responsible to pay for it? Supervisor Keyser will check into it.
A motion is made by Supervisor Santopietro and seconded by Supervisor Gawronski to adjourn the meeting at 9:30 P.M. Motion carried 5-0-0.
