BOARD OF SUPERVISIORS
JOINT WORK SESSION
August 6, 2008
AJoint Work Session of the Nockamixon Township Board of Supervisors, with the Park & Recreation Board was held on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at the Township Building in Ferndale, PA. Chairperson Nancy Janyszeski opened the meeting at 7:40PM with a salute to the flag. Other members present were Supervisors H. Gawronski, B. Keyser, and A. Santopietro. Absent: Vice-Chairman J. Litzenberger. Members of the Park & Rec Board in attendance: Chair, T. Keebler and members E. Gawronski, E. Scott, C. McClintok, B. Naska.
This meeting was advertised in the Delaware Valley News-Thursday, January 31, 2008.
N. Janyszeski commented that the Board of Supervisors met in Executive Session from 7:30 to 7:40 PM to discuss possible litigation. The Board agreed that the Solicitor should be authorized to handle the case.
The Board and Park & Recreation Board discussed the following issues:
-A walking path around Veterans’ Park; requesting S. Baluh assistance of S. Baluh in obtaining a grant; grant writing workshops, and grant monies available to municipalities. The Board suggested that MetEd be contacted regarding their easement through the park. The suggested path is approximately 1/3 mile in length. The Committee and the Board will walk the path after the work session.
-B. Naska commented that it was suggested that they schedule dates for star gazing beginning in April 2009.
-Protection for the Memorial at Veteran’s Park as requested by the American Legion. The Committee discussed installation of chain and poles.
-Replacing all the mulch in the playground area over the next year or two.
-Installation of additional buffering at the park.
-T. Keebler requested a monthly balance of Park & Rec funds prior to their scheduled meeting. It was noted that this information can be obtained at any time.
-B. Naska noted that there are two Eagle Scouts looking for a project and he wanted to know if there would be a problem with designing a path within Rapp Creek Park, outside the fenced-in area. The Revere Steering Committee would have to be notified.
-Park & Rec will have no August meeting.
A motion was made by A. Santopietro, seconded by B. Keyser, to approve the June 4, 2008 Joint Work Session minutes as presented. The motion carried 3-0-1 with H. Gawronski abstaining, he was not in attendance.
A motion was made by A. Santopietro, seconded by B. Keyser, to adjourn the work session at 8:45PM. The motion carried 4-0-0.
