Clarence Berger

Clarence Berger died Friday in Doylestown Hospital. He was 88.

Born July 17, 1923 on the family dairy farm in Kintnersville, Pa., he was a son of the late Oscar and Katie Nicholas Berger.

Later, Clarence and his late brother, Paul, became co-owners of the Clarpal Dairy Farm were Clarence farmed and lived his whole life.

He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham, Pa. and was active in the church, serving on council and as financial secretary, as well as other numerous committees, including the Durham Cemetery committee.

He was also instrumental in organizing the Care A Lot Pre School of the church where he was a past director.

He was a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau where he served as former Director and past President of Bucks County, and from 1992 to 2000 served as Director on the State level.

He was also a member of the Legislative, State Executive and Membership Committees of the Farm Bureau.

He was a member of the State, Nationa l, Plumsteadville and Pomona Grange. On the National level he earned the highest honor of seven degrees.

He was a member of the Springfield Lyons Club and the Riegelsville Kiwanis Club. He was a former member of the Board of Directors for Bucks County Extension, Nockamixon Historical Society and Nockamixon Township Supervisor and Zoning Committee.

He is survived by four nieces and nephews, Darlene Durns, Bonnie Vlasics, Larry and Donald Berger; two sister-in-laws: Anna Mary Keeler and her husband, Harold, and family, and Edith Sames and family.

In addition to his brother, Paul, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mabel, and two sisters, Evelyn Nicholas and Kathryn Seigle.

Friends may call at the Robert W. Snyder Funeral Home, Riegelsville, Pa. Thursday from 5 to 8 p.m. Interment in the Durham Cemetery will be private.

A memorial service will be held at the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Durham on Aug. 27 at 11 a.m.
