The Natural Areas Inventory of Bucks County (Rhoads & Block, 1999) contains a listing of natural resources with state-wide and local significance and each site is ranked and prioritized. The inventory does not yet contain information about reptiles and amphibians. There are 115 sites prioritized at four levels of importance. Priority 1 sites are the highest ranked areas as they contain very unique natural features and are of exceptionally high quality. There are thirty priority inventory sites within or proximate to the Delaware Canal State Park. They are listed by municipality (north to
south) below:

The National Park Service and Natural Areas Inventory studies may be obtained from the Delaware Canal State Park (land and water loan box) or directly from the National Park Service and the Bucks County Planning Commission (see references). There are exercises and reference materials in this curriculum for you and your students (Lesson 12 & Associated
Appendices) as obtaining significant resource information is an important facet of the land use and environmental management planning processes.
