Correspondence-
-Ed received no correspondence from the Bucks EMA. Mary to date has not receive any info from PEMA on the weather drill. It has been 3 years since we participated in the last weather drill. Mary will send a letter to Jason Potten to preplan for next year’s weather drill to insure the availability of the area schools for the next drill.
-Linda received info regarding a VOAD CPR and AED class for Saturday May 9 th in Willow Grove at the fire company from 9AM to 4:30PM. Training has changed. She recommends we plan a class in our area for retraining and training of new people. Nockamixon EMA can contact Tonya Venton at 215 299-0143, if we want to schedule special training locally. Tonya can send email to SEPA VOAD members with information on future training classes, which are free of charge.
-Ed received an email invitation from the American Red Cross. There will be another symposium & shelter drill at the Armstrong Middle School in Bensalem. on May 16 th. Registration is 9AM and runs from 9:30AM-3PM.
Old business
EOP and Notifications Plan has been presented to the board of Supervisors. Ed has asked for ratification of the plan at their next meeting. Approval is required in order for the documents to be filed with PEMA. It is critical to obtain this filing in order to insure that we can obtain PEMA support when needed.
Palisades School Prints- Mary has this as an action item to complete.
New Business
Tornadic activity Saturday, April 4. There was a severe thunderstorm potential for our area. Our township was at a “slight risk”. This signifies an actual considerable risk of a tornado occurrence. EMA members Tom, Ed and Mary stayed in touch until the risk passed.
Ed commented that we need a means of contacting all EMA members quickly.
Mary suggested we can set up a speed dial list set up. Conference calling won’t work as the members would have to be called in order to know they need to join a conference.
Jerry suggested we set up a phone call daisy chain so one person contacts the next.
Ed will create the chain of names and disseminate it to the team.
Ready Notify Pa . We could have used it April 4 th during the weather event to inform the community of the pending problem. However, at this time, no one in the township knows it exists. Ed suggests that we use Nockamixon Day to get the word out. We could go to the media in advance with a press release.
Frank suggested we could do a “red alert” test to make residents aware of the Ready Notify service.
We need to determine how to best utilize Ready Notify and put checks and balances on it so it is used appropriately. We need a “broadcast” option and different distribution lists for specific areas in the township.
EOC Binder- needs a table of contents and tabs so information is easy to find. Criteria for an activation is buried in the document. Mary suggested we put a summary sheet in the front of the binder. Ed offered to work on it. He started an outline that he will forward to all members to review.
